TD Accident Disability Insurance

At TD Insurance, we want to help you get the financial support you may need while you recover. When an accident results in a disability, the impact can not only be physical and emotional, but financial, too.

With the Accident Disability Insurance, you have coverage specifically designed to assist with ongoing living expenses if you become disabled as a direct result of an accident — all with a tax-free cash benefit and no need to complete a medical exam.

Monthly benefits for those unable to work

Accidents happen, and accidents that end in disability can change the quality of life for you and your loved ones. TD Accident Disability Insurance can help supplement your income and make ongoing payments for eligible claims while you recover. If you become disabled as a direct result of an accident, our policy pays you a tax-free cash benefit that can be paid to you monthly for up to 24 months. This can help reduce the burden of having to keep up with home, car and other payments while you recover.

Receive financial support as you focus on recovery

Recovery can be more important than rushing back to work too early. Our Rehabilitation Expense Benefit includes coverage benefits for rehabilitation expenses up to the value of a single monthly payment for each disability period.

Choose the benefit that's right for you

Feel comfortable with the coverage you choose. We offer policy options that allow you to choose from cash benefits between $500 and $1,500 per month, and premiums starting at $15 per month plus applicable taxes. Plus, TD Canada Trust will even pay for your first month’s premium.

If you decide that having Accident Disability Insurance isn’t for you, we have a 30-day grace period from the date you enroll to review the benefits provided and decide whether or not the coverage meets your needs. If you decide to cancel later, we will refund any premiums we may owe you, provided no claims have been made.

Our Accident Disability Insurance is available to TD customers. To be eligible, you need to be a Canadian resident1, between the ages of 18 and 60 and work a minimum of 30 hours per week. This coverage does not exclude self-employed TD customers either. If you’re self-employed and meet the eligibility requirements, you can apply for this coverage.

Remember, no medical exam or evidence of good health is required to be eligible. However, a pre-existing condition exclusion does apply. You can receive this insurance with no need for extensive medical examinations.
