TD Insurance COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Financial Relief

Financially impacted by COVID-19? We'll find a solution together.

For existing home and auto insurance customers – Important updates below

These are unprecedented times. Hard-working, responsible people are finding themselves sick, temporarily unemployed or unable to work due to family obligations. You have a lot on your mind, and we are here for you. Here’s how we're trying to help:

Auto Premium Reduction

We realize that life and driving patterns may not have returned to normal for all our customers so to make things easier we are delaying the automatic reversal of your temporary driving habit changes previously set for July 16.

Here is what you need to know:

  • We understand that you may have changed your driving habits, and you are driving for essential travel only. Depending on how much your driving has reduced, on average, save up to 15%, maybe more, on your monthly premium payments.1
    • If you've made the above change prior to June 30th, 2020, we will automatically revert back any temporary changes to your policy after September 1st or 90 days, whichever comes later, without you having to contact us. If after September 1st, you continue to use your vehicle for essential travel only, please call us and we'll make the necessary updates to your policy.
  • If you are no longer driving your vehicle, and you are safely storing it for at least the next 45 days, this can result in average monthly savings on your premium by 75%.2
    • If you've made the above change prior to June 30th, 2020, we will automatically revert back any temporary changes to your policy on or after September 1st 2020 without you having to contact us. You should not be using your vehicle while in storage. If at any time before the temporary changes to your policy are reversed you plan to use your vehicle, or if after September 1st you continue to store your vehicle, please call us and we'll make the necessary updates to your policy.

Payment Relief Measures

  • Payment deferrals for up to 3 months
  • Elimination and reversal of our NSF penalties on your home and auto insurance payment through to August 31st, 2020. We will do this automatically, you do not need to call us. Please note any fees charged by your Financial Institution due to insufficient funds may still apply
  • We will work with you to find a solution if we have cancelled your home and auto insurance due to non-payment

Coverage Relief Measures

Until August 31st, 2020, we're providing the following additional support for you, with no need for you to call us.

Vehicles left in the U.S.

  • For Canadians living part-time in the U.S. who have not been able to bring their vehicle back to Canada, coverage will be available until travel restrictions lift and you are able to bring your vehicle home (even if it's past July 8th, 2020).

Renewing your driver's license

  • If you are unable to renew your driver's license due to provincial offices being closed, your auto insurance policy will continue to provide you coverage. You do not need to call us. Once provincial offices reopen, we ask that you renew your license immediately.
