Some limitations and exclusions apply to these plans. Please note that failure to notify our Emergency Assistance Centre within 48 hours of incident or within a reasonable period of time may result in reduced Medical Emergency Benefits. If you need to Cancel or Interrupt your trip, contact our Emergency Assistance Centre within 24 hours following the covered cause for Cancellation or Interruption. Details of exclusions and limitations can be found in the Limitations and Exclusions sections of the applicable Certificate of Insurance for Per Trip, the Certificate of Insurance for Annual Plan, the Certificate of Insurance for the TD 55+ Extended Stay Plan, as well as the Certificate of Insurance for Trip Cancellation and Trip Interruption.
Examples of exclusions that apply to Per-Trip, Annual, 55+ Extended Stay and Trip Cancellation and Trip Interruption Insurance Plans include:
- Pre-existing conditions if a medical questionnaire was not completed
- Reasonably foreseeable conditions
- Failure to obtain advance approval
- Experimental and Elective Treatment
- Intentionally inflicted injuries
- Alcohol or drug abuse
- Professional sports or racing
- War or terrorism
- Mental disorders
- Hazardous activities
- Travel advisories

Medical Emergency Benefits are paid only for Eligible Medical Emergency Expenses. The maximum benefit is $2,000,000 per Insured Person. The maximum benefit for TD 55+ Extended Stay Plan is $5,000,000. Some specific expenses have further limits.
Trip Cancellation benefits (Annual Plan) are only paid for Eligible Trip Cancellation Expenses to a maximum of $1,000 per Insured Person (not to exceed $3,000).
Trip Interruption benefits (Annual Plan) are only paid for Eligible Trip Interruption Expenses to a maximum of $5,000 per Insured Person. This applies to trips interrupted due to accident, injury or death.
Trip Cancellation and Trip Interruption benefits (Annual Plan Only) provide coverage for insured events resulting from medical causes only.
Please note that the Pre-Existing Condition exclusion period for Trip Cancellation and Trip Interruption (Annual Plan Only) benefits begins on the date you booked your trip and not from your departure date.
Trip Cancellation benefits are available up to the Amount of Coverage purchased to a maximum insurable amount of $20,000 per Insured Person, per Covered Trip.
Trip Interruption benefits are available for the unused portion of pre-paid travel arrangements, up to the Amount of Coverage purchased prior to departure, to a maximum insurable amount of $20,000 per Insured Person, per Covered Trip.
Please note that the Pre-Existing Condition exclusion period for Trip Cancellation and Trip Interruption benefits begins on the Effective Date of your insurance application and not from your Departure Date.
Our Administrator must be notified if there is any change to your medical status (changes in Treatment or medication, including dosage) before the Departure Date.
