What if I want to cancel my trip due to COVID-19 but I am travelling to a destination that is not impacted by the "avoid non-essential" or "avoid all" travel issued by the Government of Canada on the travel advisory list?
If your trip is not impacted by the "avoid non-essential" or "avoid all" advisory issued by the Government of Canada for COVID-19, you are not be eligible for Trip Cancellation/Trip Interruption coverage.
Given the Official Global Travel Advisory issued by the Government of Canada on March 13, 2020, Canadians have been instructed to avoid all non-essential travel outside of Canada until further notice. This means that you are not eligible for Trip Cancellation/Trip Interruption coverage due to COVID-19 if you:
- are travelling within Canada; or
- book a trip to a destination, after the "avoid non-essential" or "avoid all" travel advisory issued by the Government of Canada is in effect for that destination; or
- purchase TD Trip Cancellation and Trip Interruption Insurance for a destination, after the "avoid non-essential" or "avoid all" travel advisory issued by the Government of Canada is in effect for that destination.

If you bought our standalone TD Trip Cancellation and Trip Interruption Insurance, please review your certificate of insurance HERE.
Are you still covering people Travel Medical Insurance coverage and are travelling to countries affected by COVID-19?
We have specific exclusions related to emergency Travel Medical Insurance if you are travelling to a country or region that already has a level 3 or 4 travel advisory in place. This means that if you are travelling to a destination in which the Government of Canada has advised Canadians to “Avoid all travel” (level 4 travel advisory) or “Avoid all non-essential travel” (level 3 travel advisory) to that destination, you will not be covered for any claim if you contract the Coronavirus/COVID-19 virus.
